Decorating small spaces can be a challenge. There are many tips and tricks you can implement in a small room in order to maximize a space and even make a room appear larger.

In a small bedroom, choose one bold piece of furniture to be the focal point of a room, like an over sized headboard. Make it your own piece with a DIY Headboard.

One trick you can use in a small room is to decorate in a way that makes the eye move upward (in part one, we did this with floor to ceiling window treatments). You can use this trick with vertical stripes on the walls.

Paint an accent wall a darker color. This will create an illusion of depth in the room, which will make it appear larger than it really is.

Let the light in! Extend your curtain rod outside your window frame. This both elongates the room and allows the light to shine through, making the room appear larger.

Make use of multifunctional furniture in your small space. For example, the console table behind the sofa, pictured above, is also used as a home office desk.

Decorating small spaces can be a challenge, but with a little effort you can still make any room look beautiful.
